Workshop Building

Recently we have been working hard on getting the area in the first barn behind the house turned into a workshop for all the tools and for doing some of the jobs we need to get done around the place….. including me making a heap of toys for Sir and for future Forest School plans (follow me over on Pinterest to see my collection of ideas I have for these things!!)

Sooo….. we started with…..

Well in reality there was a horse box and a tonne of junk and wood in there to really start with!!

Then building work started….

Then some more……

and some electricals….

and a roof…..

a lot of tanking slurry…..

and a bit of patio to sort the awful back door entrance out….

some welding and gate building….

The last two days I have been painting it with some cheap white paint so it doesn’t look so much of a cave….

Today Himself is cementing the floor in places to level it for racking….

So nearly ready for its final reveal!!!

Shave horse!

Last weekend my Dad brought down a shave horse he built me!

This weekend James and I spent some time making stakes to stabilise woodland steps!!! I think we ended up with about 32, at four per step….. Mmmmm….. 8 steps….. Few more to make me thinks!!!

Another weekend at the farm!

Last weekend we went to the farm with my Mum and Dad, so naturally we got a few jobs done!!

Mum and I did some extreme sloe picking, meaning the hedgerow needed cutting back from the gate a smidge and we could reach some of the really good sloes so…. Stihl motor plus extendy chain saw attachment…. And I cut them good branches down!!! Whilst Mum picked them clean!!!

Meanwhile back in the barn where our tank for the borehole is Dad and apprentice James were building “the coffin”

This is a wooden box which will eventually be stuffed with fleeces/wool to insulate the water tank!!! And it also doubles as a work bench!!

Dad and James built it using a load of the wood left from taking down the housing from my Granny’s swimming pool!!

Mum and I were then trusted to take out Ally the gator into the fields for a drive round the hedgerows…. Where we picked blackberries, rose hips and also found we have honeysuckle in the hedgerows!! So pretty!! We also had a sneaky game of slalom racing round the haylage bales!!! Te he!!!
