Something resembling the Battle of the Somme!!!
It started with a disc cutter…. Cutting through the yard concrete…. Then the mini digger came to play!! Then a few days later we have trenching everywhere…. Pipes connected to the septic tank, electric cables laid, water pipes dug in!!! Now to await the building control officer to sign…

Screed!
On the Monday of half term the guys for the floor screed turned up to screed the whole of our downstairs and cover up the pretty underfloor heating pipework!!! So glassy and pretty!! When it went off it went back to normal concrete though!! Can’t believe it was so wet on Monday then…

Underfloor heating
The second week of February our lovely plumber Guy came to fit the underfloor heating pipework!!! Squeeeeeeee the house is moving along!!!!! But we had to wait until half term to see it, as both of us were working and I in fact was on a union rep course for two days and bunking over…

More windows!!
The majority of the windows and doors are now in!!!! We even have ecopanes though I am not entirely sure what that means!! I am just sooooo pleased the place is soon to be watertight!!! Onwards!!!!!!

Windows!!!
Just before Christmas at the farm we had a big surprise at eight am!!!! The window fitters came to start fitting windows!!!!!!!! So that’s two whole kitchen windows fitted, french doors lifted upstairs, other windows delivered and ready to be fitted when they return on the 5th January!!!! Eeeeeeee!!!!!! Sooooo exciting!!! Just need the builder…

Further upgrades!

Building control!!
Ha ha!!!! After the building control officers visit back in October, building work stopped…. Now we are in possession of a structural engineers report that states we don’t need to remove rebuild or generally fart arse about too much, no steel is required and we only need a couple of truss clips and bolts!!!! Hurrah!!!!!…

Yes Leaks not Leeks!!! The same weekend as the building news in the previous post…. Water began to leak from the hovel ceiling….. Now the previous owner had kitted it out in a rudimentary and temporary way, but then had lived in the place for 10 years!!! We turned on the water, we turned on…

Latest building work!
Last weekend we could resist an overnight trip to the farm to see how much more the builders had done!!! Damp proof membrane and insulation going on!!!!! Squee!!!!! One more week of builders and then the plumber is back to lay the underfloor heating and hen the screed chap is due!!! My jobs this week…
